Mrs Jennifer Willis

Year 6 Teacher

When I was at school I always knew that I wanted to work in science or with children.  As it turned out the science came first and, following a degree in Biochemistry, I spent the next 15 years working as a cell biologist in the pharmaceutical industry.

However, my desire to work with children never went away and 3 years ago I decided to take the plunge and go back to university to do a PGCE in Primary Education.  Being a mature student wasn’t easy, particularly as I am also a busy mum, but I enjoyed the course and was sure that I had made the right decision.  That feeling was strengthened when I visited Estcots and I was delighted to join the staff and children as a newly qualified teacher in 2014.

Two years on, it feels like I’ve always been here!  I am now looking forward to using my background to help to lead the science curriculum and ensure that it continues to be engaging and inspiring for the children.

A Few Things About Me

In my personal life, I enjoy swimming and cycling with my family.

My husband and I are qualified scuba divers and, although the diving has been put on hold whilst our son is so young, we can’t wait to get back into it when he is old enough to join us!
