Phase 2 PPA Teacher

It has been an hour and a pleasure to work at Estcots for over 10 years. During this time I have been lucky enough to work in all year groups.

My passion is teaching in EYFS and KS1. The feeling I get form seeing children learn things for the first time is so special.

My key aim is to make learning fun and for children to leave school happy and excited about the adventures they’ve had at school.

A Few Things About Me

I have 3 wonderful boys who make my life very exciting! We spend most weekends outside, usually exploring a National Trust place. When I get time of my own I enjoy going to yoga and swimming.

We have a lovely big family around us so weekends usually end with a Sunday roast all together having a goggle around the table.

Mr Benedict Alexander

Year 4 Teacher

I qualified as a teacher in 2000 having originally trained as an engineer. After teaching in Nottingham, where I went to university, I moved to Hove on the south coast. I then taught in a number of schools in the Crawley area before moving to Estcots in the autumn of 2015.

Although I have only been at the school for a short time I have found it to be a fantastic place to teach with sociable children who are excited about their learning and proud of the work they do.

A Few Things About Me

Having grown up in the wilds of north Cornwall I spent most of my time building dens, exploring the woods and falling out of trees. You could say I was an early adopter of the forest schools approach to learning.

Nowadays my hobbies are a little less dangerous or strenuous, and I enjoy riding my bike, reading and spending time with my wife and two young daughters.

Year 4 Teacher & Phase Leader

I’ve been teaching for 20 years in a variety of schools from Middle Schools with over 900 pupils to little village schools with only 3 classrooms in total.

I have been privileged to have worked at Estcots for 5 years as Phase Leader. I’m currently in Year 4. I love working with children of any age and children constantly surprise and delight me with their enthusiasm, imagination and maturity.
I lead Curriculum Development in the school, supporting our fantastic teams with their imaginative topics. My favourite topic has been ‘Colours of Africa’, a project that culminated in a really wonderful gallery of work and film at Chequermead.

This topic led me to travel to Tanzania to work with pupils there to make a film to share with pupils back at Estcots.

A Few Things About Me

When I’m not at work, I’m a keen traveller. Trekking in Borneo, overland travel through China and riding on the highest train in the world in Peru are just some of the adventures I’ve been lucky enough to have experienced in my summer holidays.

This year, my adventures have been much closer to home as I’ve become a dad for the first time!

Year 3 Teacher

I have been here as part of the Estcots team for 4 Years. I knew I wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. I studied to become a teacher at Chichester, specialising in Early Years.

I love to see how the children grow and develop and for me it is the most rewarding profession to be in.

A Few Things About Me

Before teaching, I coached tennis to children between the ages of 4-11 for 5 Years, playing myself for many years too.

In my spare time my hobbies include, shopping, trips to the cinema and going out and spending time with my friends and family. I enjoy watching sports too including football, tennis and athletics.
