This Week:  World Book Week was celebrated in style with costumes, book discussions, reviews and online author interviews. The pupils in Opie Class began the computer indexing of the school library and really helped review and assess the books currently on our shelves.

Our assessments went very well, with pupils taking part in Reading and Mental Arithmetic papers to help us identify next steps.

DT sessions were used to complete and evaluate our wooden mazes while IT sessions were used to refine and debug our Iron Man Maze computer games.

Next Week:  Next week will see us starting a four-week block of work on newspaper reports. Our focus in the first week will be on the conventions of newspapers, headline writing and how headings and sub-headings are used before exploring eye witness accounts. Our Maths lessons will reintroduce fractions of numbers and explore addition and subtraction of fractions with common denominators.

Our assessments will continue and conclude with a focus on using and applying our maths skills for problem solving.

Linked to Chapter 4 and 5 of The Iron man, Geography sessions will explore the physical and human landscapes of Australia.
